Elaine Marie Costigan, age 94 of New Hampton, passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 30, 2021, at New Hampton Nursing & Rehab Center.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 4, 2021, at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church in Lawler with Father Nicholas Radloff celebrating the mass. 

Visitation was held on Friday, Dec. 3, 2021, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church in Lawler with a Rosary at 3:30 p.m. followed by a Scripture Service at 6:30 p.m. Visitation continued at the church one hour prior to mass. 

Burial will be held at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Lawler at a later date.

Elaine Marie Collins was born on Aug. 13, 1927, to James and Viola (Halbur) Collins in New Hampton. 

Elaine attended school in Protivin and graduated from Rudolphinum High School in 1945.  She then attended Upper Iowa University in Fayette, receiving her teaching certificate in 1946. Elaine taught country school near Protivin for one year.  

She was united in marriage to William Costigan at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in New Hampton on June 11, 1947. The couple made their home in Lawler and later Elaine moved to New Hampton. 

Elaine was employed at State Bank of Lawler for 25 years, retiring in 1994.  

She enjoyed playing cards, dancing, fishing and camping adventures, mowing lawn and she enjoyed her grandchildren and great grandchildren immensely. She was a member of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church, Catholic Daughters of America and Lawler Legion Auxillary.

Those left to cherish Elaine’s memory are her son, Terry (Carol) Costigan of St. Lucas, her grandchildren, Curtis Costigan of Phoenix, Heather (Jeff) Rapp of Boonville, Missouri, Jennifer (Otis) Brown of New York, Rachel (Mike) Bushey of Paloi, Pennsylvania, Catlin Costigan of Muscatine, Jessica (Josh) Erlandson of Elsworth, Wisconsin, and  Mandy Mandson of Elsworth, Wisconsin; 14 great-grandchildren; her sister, Mary Jean Martin of New Hampton; sister-in-law, Lorraine Collins of New Hampton; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, William on May 10, 1990; daughter, Joellen Mandson; son, Tim Costigan; brother, Walter Collins; and sister, Anna Mae Roethler.
