Lettermen to raise money March 14 at lift-a-thon
Members of the Lettermen and Letterettes have been, and will be, looking for as many sponsors as possible for this year’s lift-a-thon.
This year the event, held in order to raise money for weight room improvements, will be held Wednesday, March 14.
The sponsors could be friends, family, neighbors, coworkers, teachers and coaches, among others.
The middle school will start the day by lifting at 7 a.m. while the high school-age lifters will have an after-school session.
Spectators may come watch the older groups, to be held in the high school weight room, with girls starting at 4 p.m. and the boys taking over around 4:30.
The lift-a-thon is a fundraising activity designed to raise money for weightroom improvements such as new weights, accessories, repairs, and so on. It is an activity designed to benefit all of the NHHS athletic programs, 7-12.
All students, those out for athletics, or those who like to lift for recreation, are encouraged to participate.
Participants will be seeking pledges for a one-rep maximum on the bench press.
Sponsors may pledge a fixed amount or they may pledge per pound with the lifter’s final weight determining the donation.
All pledges should be made, if possible, prior to the day of the lift-a-thon and are due by the end of the day on Wednesday, March 28; checks can be made payable to: New Hampton Community Schools.
To sponsor an athlete or to make a donation to the Lift-a-Thon, contact any middle school or high school student-athlete or faculty sponsors Dennis Pagel, Nick Hemann or Brad Schmitt. Any support would be greatly appreciated by all that use the weight room equipment.
