Florence Lucille Martin age 99 of Heron Lake, MN, formerly of Nashua, IA, died Saturday, July 6, 2019, at Lakeview Assisted Living in Heron Lake, MN.
Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, July 11, 2019, at Hugeack-Johnson Funeral Home & Crematory -- Olson Chapel in Nashua. Interment will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Nashua with Dave Edson, Andy Edson, Cliff Edson, Jeff Edson, Scot Krueger and Scott Koster serving as pallbearers.

Florence Lucille (Harris) Martin was born November 28, 1919, at her family’s farm in Rural Ionia, IA. She was the daughter of Francis ‘Mel’ and Blanch (Feuchtwanger) Harris. She grew up around the Ionia and Nashua area and was a 1937 graduate of Nashua High School.
On April 5, 1942, she married the love of her life, Eugene Martin, at her parents’ home in rural Ionia. To this union, two children were born.
Initially, Florence taught at a country school for twelve years before farming just east of Nashua. The couple farmed together for over 53 years and really enjoyed it. In 1995 the couple retired and moved into Nashua. She eventually resided at Cedar Vale before moving to Jackson, MN to be closer to her family.
She was very involved in her church, the Republic Community Church in Rural Ionia. Florence taught Sunday School, Bible School and was a was an instrumental member of the Women’s Group at church.
Florence loved to garden, bake and spend time with her family. Some of her favorite memories were made in the 19 years that she traveled down to Texas with her husband.
She is survived by one daughter Phyllis (Allan) Koster of Jackson, MN; two grandchildren, Scott (Jill) Koster of Chicago IL, Tricia (Scot) Krueger of Sioux Falls, SD; three great-grandchildren; one sister, Mildred Christensen of Janesville, IA.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Eugene Martin; one son, Dennis Martin; two brothers, Edward Harris, Calvin Harris; one sister, Ethel Zipse.
