Dave was born March 21, 1953, the son of Virgil and Rosemary (Harrington) Zwanziger.
He attended Nashua Schools from kindergarten through his graduation in 1971.
After high school, Dave enlisted with the National Guard.
He worked at different area businesses including Pelland Sand & Gravel, White Farms, Allied Construction and Zwanziger Excavating. Dave’s current job was with the Chickasaw County Secondary Roads, a job he thoroughly loved for nearly 20 years.
When Dave was younger, he had a passion for racing. It did not matter if it was snowmobiles, cars or trucks. He also always enjoyed the process before the race actually began. Getting vehicles and engines ready was just as fun for Dave as the actual race itself. He meticulously tinkered away until everything was perfect. That passion for racing was passed on to his son, Jeremy. Dave loved sharing that special bond with his son.
He will be remembered for taking pride in all his endeavorers and his love for his children.
Dave is survived by one son, Jeremy (Kayla) Zwanziger of Waterloo; one daughter, Dawn (Perry) Lester of Des Moines; parents, Virgil and Rosemary Zwanziger of Nashua; two brothers, Dan (Lisa) Zwanziger of Nashua, and Dennis (Cindy) Zwanziger of Waverly; one sister, Diane (Bill) Schaetzel of Sioux Falls, S.D.; two nephews, Alex Zwanziger of Nashua and Eric Zwanziger of Waverly; three nieces, Emily Bailey of Altoona, Abby Zwanziger of Nashua, and Alli (Caleb) Wilken of Nashua; one great-nephew, Oliver Bailey; and his furry friends, Roxy and Cooper.
