Charles Harrison Hurd was born Nov. 9, 1947, in Greene, the son of Lester and Margaret (Ackley) Hurd. Chuck attended country school near Greene, and helped farm with his dad on the family farm until enlisting in the United States Army. Chuck was truly a jack of all trades, and had a gift for fixing things and working with his hands. He spent his working career in the welding, construction, and plumbing fields spanning over 40 years. Chuck retired in 2012. Chuck was introduced to Rachel Bonefas and the couple were married July 18, 2015.
Chuck enjoyed fishing, boating, and hunting. He enjoyed camping in his younger years and as he got older enjoyed having fires in the backyard. He spent time as a member of the Water Hawks ski team in the 1960s.
Chuck is survived by his wife, Rachel Hurd of Nashua; two sons, John (Sherry) Hurd of Decorah, Dale (Gena) Hurd of Goodyear, Ariz.; step-son, Joseph Abrahamson of Chariton; daughter, Jennifer Hurd of Greenville, Tenn.; 13 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; two brothers, Ron Hurd of Nashua, Steve (Julie) Hurd of Nashua; three sisters, Jackie (Randle) Livingston of Nashua, Sharon Woosley of Lebanon, Mo., Mary (Arlen) Janssen of Nashua; many nieces and nephews.
