Wrestlers begin trek to state Saturday

The road to Des Moines begins Saturday for area wrestlers as they hit the mats for sectional meets that will not only decide which individuals will move onto districts but what teams will keep their dual seasons alive.  Class 2A top-ranked New Hampton will host a sectional while Turkey Valley will head to Postville for a Class 1A meet. Both tournaments begin at noon.  For the Chickasaws, the sectional meet offers a chance at redemption after New Hampton finished second to Class 3A Waverly-Shell Rock in last Saturday’s Northeast Iowa Conference tournament.  “We’re definitely focused ahead and not behind,” New Hampton coach Nick Hemann said. “I’ve really liked what I’ve seen from our guys in practice this week.
