New Hampton coach Scott Freirichs has seen him do it before so he wasn’t surprised in the least that Nolan Usher held off Charles City’s Nick Litterer to win the 800-meter run at Monday’s Decorah Relays.

Although the meet was at Charles City, the Chickasaws talent and experience was too much for the Comets.
The story on Tuesday evening for the Turkey Valley girls track team was freshman Jalyssa Blazek, as she totaled 18.5 of the team’s 30 total points. The Trojans finished sixth of nine teams at the Postville Lady Pirate Relays.
The Turkey Valley trapshooting team opened its season with a bang Monday as the Trojans had the top two squads, the top five male shooters and the top two female shooters in a meet against Crestwood.
New Hampton’s trapshooting team kicked off its 2019 season Tuesday by sweeping the top three spots at a meet against St. Ansgar at a wind-swept Mitchell County Trap Range just outside of Osage.
More than a year ago, Noah Fenske checked the track record board at New Hampton High School, and the goal — break the school record in the shot put — was formed.
After winning the conference championship and making the state golf meet as a team in 2017, the New Hampton boys golf team was not able to repeat either of these accomplishments last season.
