Paul Chipera dies at 86
Paul Chipera, age 86, of Fort Atkinson, died on Wednesday, Nov. 22, 2017, at Linn Haven Rehab and Healthcare in New Hampton.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. John’s Catholic Church, Fort Atkinson, at 10:30 a.m., Monday, November 27, 2017. Interment will be at St. John's Catholic Cemetery, Fort Atkinson.
Paul Martin Chipera was born on Nov. 15, 1931 the son of Joseph and Katherine (Herold) Chipera on a farm east of Jackson Junction. After his tour of duty with the United States Army, Paul married Lillian Langreck, the love of his life on Aug. 8, 1956. To this union four children were born: David, Joyce, John and Daniel. Paul was an avid outdoorsman and loved hunting and fishing and mostly spending time with his family. He loved raising animals and had a variety of Poultry, Chester White Hogs and Angus cattle. Paul also enjoyed going to swap meets, tinkering around the farm, and his coon dogs. He was a member of St. Johns Parish, NE Iowa Angus, Winneshiek County Cattleman Assoc. and the Huber Steffes American Legion Post 672.
Paul is survived by his wife of sixty-one years, Lillian. Children: Dave Chipera, Nashua; Joyce (Bob) Walker, Mason City, and Dan (Michelle) Chipera, New Hampton. Grandchildren: Carmen (Josh) Twedt, Brittany Chipera, Abby (Steve Hillegas) Chipera, Brett (Lindsay) Walker, Jarryd Walker, Kyle (Shannon Schrage) Chipera, Collyn Chipera, Nicole (Levi) Gulick, and Blake (Becky Roach) Chipera. Great-grandchildren: Stella, Lear, Lennex, Laiven, Leyton and Lennon. Sister: Viola Pitzenberger, Dyersville. Sister-in-law: Nerissa Chipera, Waucoma; Daughter-in-law: Jeanie (Rick) Kirkeberg, Calmar.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents: Joseph and Katherine (Herold) Chipera. Son: John Chipera. Sister: Cecillia (Eugene) Leuenberger. Brother: Leonard Chipera. In-laws: Rudy Pitzenberger, Henry (Verda) Langreck, Louie Langreck, Francis (Katherine) Langreck, Stanley Busta, Julian Kuhn, Larry Jirak, Beata (Ray) Schmelzer. Bernice Langreck, Eileen Langreck.
