Elna Clikeman, 75

Elna Clikeman, age 75 of Greene and formerly of New Hampton, passed away on Thursday, Oct. 7, 2021, at St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids.

Graveside services were held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, Oct. 11, 2021, at Rose Hill Cemetery in Greene with Pastor Daniel Flucke officiating.

Elna was born on Jan. 20, 1945, in New Hampton, the daughter of Roy and Louise (Rabe) Beck. She attended public school and graduated from New Hampton High School.  After graduation she worked for Allen Hospital in Waterloo, delivering mail to the patients.

She was united in marriage to Don Clikeman on March 20, 1965, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in New Hampton, which was Elna’s home church when she was growing up.  The couple was blessed with three children.  Elna and Don farmed in Greene and raised their family.  Elna kept herself busy with farm chores, children, and calves.

Elna was an active member of St. Peter Lutheran Church.  She served as head of the Funeral Lunch Committee for forty years.  She also made her talents available during fall festival and other fund-raising events. She baked hundreds of Christmas cookies and looked forward to delivering them to the shut-ins, those in need, and special friends. She was very faithful to God and her church.

Elna loved to bake bread and cook.  She baked rolls for family and catered events. Furden was the special breakfast for kids and especially grandkids and hot crossed buns were prepared the night before and baked Easter before sunrise.

Elna will be sadly missed by her husband of 56 years,  Don of Greene; two children, Bret (Wendy) Clikeman, Steamboat Rock, and April (Scott) Johnson, New Providence; grandchildren, Ben (Alex) Woodman, Pete (Jane) Woodman, Noah Clikeman, Eli Roe, Jesse Roe, Bethany Roe, Louisa Johnson, Ella Johnson and Sophia Johnson; son-in-law, Phil Roe, Eldora; brother, Ralph (Norma Jean) Beck, New Hampton; and many nieces, nephews.

She is preceded in death by her daughter, Julie Roe; her parents; her granddaughter, Vienna Johnson; and her sister, Marie Denner.
