She grew up in Spillville and was a carefree child who loved the outdoors — whether it was growing flowers, picking ginseng or occasionally hunting squirrels.
Marcia attended St. Wenceslaus School through 6th grade and then went on to attend South Winneshiek Community Schools. She graduated in the top 10 of her high school class.
Upon graduating high school, she pursued nursing at Northeast Iowa Community College (1979) and started working at Mercy Medical Center in New Hampton. Marcia married her husband, Norman Knutson, on October 11, 1980. Together, they raised two wonderful boys, Mitchell and Dan.
Marcia’s faith was important to her, and she was an active member of Holy Family Parish in New Hampton. She enjoyed tending to her flower garden, baking pies, spending time with friends and family, attending concerts, traveling and going to St. Louis Cardinals’ games. Family and friends loved her intelligence, humor and infectious laugh.
