Maybe they weren’t so-called “must wins,” but the New Hampton boys basketball team desperately needed a couple of victories.

Michael W. Hammer, age 72 of New Hampton, died Friday, Feb. 7, 2020, at the New Hampton Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Fidelity Bank and Trust’s two top executives say it’s business as usual at its New Hampton location, despite the loss of three of its lending officers.

Security State Bank is planning to return to New Hampton, although this is a different Security State Bank.

The Turkey Valley boys basketball team entered last week with a trio of Upper Iowa Conference games on the horizon. In order to keep their hopes at a fourth consecutive conference championship alive, they likely needed to win all three. 

Edwin C. Eisele, age 94 of Fredericksburg, died Thursday, Feb. 6, 2020, at Linn Haven Rehab & Healthcare in New Hampton.

Larry V. Underwood, age 77, died unexpectedly Friday Feb. 7, 2020, as a result of an auto accident.
There will be a memorial service in Iowa at a later date.

An apparent burglary at New Hampton’s lone pharmacy closed the business last Monday as employees worked to sort out what was taken.
