N-P gets offensive against Lake Mills

If Hannah Holthaus has learned one thing about her Nashua-Plainfield softball team in her first year of coaching, it is this:  The Huskies are a resilient bunch.
And they showed it last week.
After playing one of their worst games of the season in an 11-1 loss to Rockford on Wednesday, Nashua-Plainfield scored early and often two nights later on their way to a 14-4 win over Lake Mills to wrap up the Top of Iowa Conference schedule with a 6-11 mark.
“We finally came out and hit right from the start,” Holthaus said, “and after the Rockford game, I was a little worried with how we’d respond. I guess I didn’t need to worry. Everyone hit. That was just so much fun to see. They keep coming back and they don’t let one or two games get them down.”
Libby Fisher led the way with a 3-for-3 night while Britney Holthaus, Toyia Griffin, Kaylynrae Woodman and Breanna Hackman all had two hits apiece as Nashua-Plainfield finished the night with 14 hits, the most they’ve compiled in a Top of Iowa Conference game this season.
And the Huskies showed off some power as well as Griffin smacked two doubles, Meghan Wright had a double and Holthaus had a triple.
