Ellen Stange dies at 79
Ellen Stange age 79 of Lawler, died Saturday, Feb. 18, 2017, at Saint Mary's Hospital in Rochester, Minn. Funeral Services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 22, 2017 at St. Johns Stapleton Lutheran Church, rural Waucoma with Rev. Wayne Ellingson presiding.Interment will be held at St. Johns Stapleton Cemetery with Chad Stange, Todd Stange, Wade Stange, Kurt Hartmann, Gordie Davis, Cory Rochford and Brandon Petersen serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Donald Benz, Chris Zmoos, Jim Langreck, Mark Langreck, William Maurer, Harvey Drewelow, Jason Woodring and Duane Wurzer.Friends may greet the family from 4 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 21, 2017 at Hugeback-Johnson Funeral Home in Fredericksburg, where there will be a 7:30 p.m. scripture service.Ellen Louise Stange was born July 20, 1937 in Boyd, the daughter of Jacob and Florence (Erickson) Hartmann. Ellen and her family lived in Boyd in New Hampton Township, Chickasaw County. She was baptized and confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Boyd and was a member of the Boyd Victorettes 4-H Club. She graduated from New Hampton High School. She was united in marriage to the love of her life, Arlie Stange on June 17, 1961 in Boyd. To this union one child was born. She was a lifetime member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Stapleton Township where she held a number of offices in the church womens organizations and served as a Sunday school teacher. Ellen was known to have a car load of kids taking them to Bible School or providing lay ministry during services.Ellen is survived by her husband Arlie Stange of Lawler; one daughter Sue Ellen Lechtenberg of New Hampton; three granddaughters; two great-grandsons with one on the way; one brother Albert (Helen) Hartmann of New Hampton.She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Geraldine (Wendell) Gordon, Lucile (Eugene) Davis.
