Donna F. Brandenburg dies at 89
Donna F. Brandenburg age 89 of Fredericksburg, died Wednesday, Feb. 15, 2017, at Mercy Medical Center - New Hampton. Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday, Feb. 20, 2017, at the Hugeback - Johnson Funeral Home in Fredericksburg with Titus Lehman, Dennis Hause and Melissa Chardeen presiding. Helen Kellogg will be the organist accompanying the congregation in song. Interment will be in Taylorsville Cemetery, rural Arlington, Iowa with pallbearers LaVerne Hammond, LaVerne Hammond Jr, Bill Brandenburg, Mike Brandenburg, Paul Brandenburg and Neil Brandenburg. Honorary pallbearers will be Larry Haynes, Roger Oltman, Robert Meester and Robert Brown.Friends may greet the family 3 - 7 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 19, 2017, at the Hugeback Johnson Funeral Home in Fredericksburg. She was a 1944 graduate of the East Waterloo High School. After high school, Donna was married to Harold A. McChesney and to this union two daughters and a son were born; Judy, Jimmy and JoAnn. The couple later divorced. In 1956, she was united in marriage to Finis Edgar Brandenburg. To this union three sons were born; Michael, Paul and Neil. The family led a very active life with fond memories of ping-pong games and picnics with family and friends.Donna was an avid volunteer and helped at Country View, cancer drives and polio drives. She had a passion for scrapbooking, jigsaw puzzles and the game Scrabble. She enjoyed a long life focused on faith, family and friends. She will be dearly missed.Donna is survived by two daughters, Judy (Larry) Haynes of Manchester, Jo Ann (LaVerne) Hammond of Fredericksburg; three sons, Michael (Georgann) Brandenburg of San Diego, Calif., Paul (Patti) Brandenburg, Neil (Sylvia Wilke) Brandenburg both of Fredericksburg; four step-children, Cheryl Kramer of Cedar Rapids, Barbara (Roger) Oltman of Cedar Falls, William (Judith) Brandenburg of Evansdale, and Georgiann (Robert) Meester of Grundy Center; one step daughter-in-law, Shirley Brandenburg of Cedar Rapids; ten grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; many step-grandchildren, step-great-grandchildtren and step-great-great grandchildren who were all welcome into her home.She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Finis in 1983; son, Jimmy Brandenburg; step-son, Richard Brandenburg; one brother, Delbert Perry; one sister, Patricia Harvey.
