Wilma Kay Koenigsfeld, 78

Wilma Kay Koenigsfeld, age 78 of Ionia, died Friday, Jan. 5, 2018, at Methodist Hospital in Rochester, Minn., surrounded by her loving family.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 10, 2018, at St. Boniface Catholic Church, Ionia, with Rev. Brian Dellaert and Rev. Mark Osterhaus concelebrating the Mass. 
Interment will be held in St. Boniface Cemetery, Ionia, with Steven Phyfe, Patrick Lumley, Brian Lumley, Jeff Faust, Kevin Crooks and John Selvig serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers are Kay’s grandchildren, Nathan Brown, Megan Lester, Shana Boji, Lance Brown, Sydney Boji and Brylie Boji.
Friends may greet the family from 3 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 9, 2018, at Hugeback-Johnson Funeral Home in New Hampton. Visitation continues an hour prior the Mass at the church in Ionia on Wednesday.

Wilma Kay Koenigsfeld was born May 6, 1939, in Hampton, the daughter of Harry and Marie (Reinke) Lumley. 
She attended school in Nashua and graduated from Nashua High School in 1957. 
Kay attended Wartburg College in Waverly. 
Kay was introduced to Clark Koenigsfeld through mutual friends and the couple were married on Oct. 3, 1959, at St. Michaels Catholic Church in Nashua. To this union four children — Scott, Diane, Kurt and Michele — were born.
Kay initially worked at Hydrotile in Nashua for a couple of years while the couple lived and worked on the farm near Ionia. 
Kay took care her family, and began driving bus for the New Hampton School District. Kay spent 50 years driving a local route and driving various sporting teams throughout Northeast Iowa to competitions. 
She was also an integral part of the farming operation, working with Clark in any way necessary to help the family and farm. 
She was very active at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Ionia, serving on the Parish Guild Board, the Parish Council, and helping the Matthew Circle. Kay spent time on the St. John School Board and taught religion for many years. 
Kay loved to garden, cook, play cards and taking annual fishing trips with the family to Leech Lake every summer. 
Spending time with friends and family was everything to Kay. She especially loved the time spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. 
Kay is survived by her husband of 58 years Clark; two sons, Scott Koenigsfeld of Three Rivers, Mich., and Curtis Koenigsfeld of Ionia; two daughters, Diane (Tom) Brown of Ionia, and Michele (Bryce) Boji of Ionia; six grandchildren, Nathan (Katie) Brown and their three children, Addison, Easton, and Holden of Ionia, Megan (Blaine) Lester and their two children, Maya, and Dominic of Center Point, Shana Boji of Cedar Falls, Lance Brown of Cedar Falls, Sydney Boji of Cedar Falls, and Brylie Boji of Ionia; two brothers, Leland (Pam) Lumley of Charles City, and Richard (Barb) Lumley of Nashua; and one sister, Marylou (John) Phyfe of Nashua.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two half-brothers, Raymond and Lloyd Lumley; and half-sister, Mildred Varrelman.
