Victories may not come, but Trojans show improvement

Lead Summary

Isn’t there a saying that attitude is everything?
Then the Turkey Valley girls should continue to grow as a team, even though they struggled at the Waukon tourney last Saturday.
The girls were 0-3 at the invitational, with losses to Central Elkader, North Crawford and Crestwood.
“We played much better on Saturday,” said coach Ethan Adams. “We put ourselves in the position to win games and did win a couple sets. That is an improvement. Our attitude was much improved.”
The first set against Central could have gone either way, but Central took the 21-17 win before a decisive 21-9 win. In the next two matches the Trojan girls won a set, trading 21-15 sets against North Crawford before the Wisconsin school took the deciding set by a 15-12 score.
Jordan Lukes turned in five kills in that match, with Breanna Busta chipping in eight assists and seven digs. Katlyn Baumler led the team at the serving line, going 12-for-14 with five aces, adding a block and block assist.
