TV girls record pair of wins

Lead Summary

Turkey Valley recorded consecutive wins earlier this season, but this week marked the first time the Trojan volleyball program has two straight wins over different opponents. The first win last weekend at the Dunkerton tourney snapped a 13-game losing streak that started after a pair of wins over Kee High late August and early September and the girls added a Tuesday night 3-1 win over Postville.
It could be that the program needed some shaking up, which coach Ethan Adams did at Dunkerton. Turkey Valley started out with a 2-0 loss to Vinton-Shellsburg, then did the same against Dunkerton, despite a career-high 10 digs by Karissa Schmidt, two solo blocks by Katlyn Baumler and two aces by Jaedyn Winter.
“We started out slow and then after the first match against Vinton totally changed our game rotation/positions,” said Adams. “We put some players in new positions and had only worked on it a little. So the game against Dunkerton was an adjustment. However, they played better, and then were able to put together the sweep of Nashua-Plainfield.”
