Trojans stay perfect in UIC with 38th straight home win

Lead Summary

At times, it's hard to come up with a lead for a sports story.  After all, what do you say about yet another Upper Iowa Conference game — this one against West Central Friday — that the Turkey Valley girls completely dominated?  But this time there's plenty. There's the 32-1 run the Lady Trojans started in the first quarter and continued midway into the second quarter. The game was pretty well decided after that.  There's the filming by Iowa Public Television that was going on, but we'll get to that later.  The game marked the 38th straight home win for the girls' program. The last home loss was in February 2014, when this year's seniors were freshmen and they lost to Sumner-Fredericksburg, a UIC opponent at the time. Thursday the Trojans defeated the Cougars 54-27, also at home.  It was senior night at the gym Friday, where six girls — Sloan Huinker, Kayla Gebel, Shelby Reicks, Sadie Nymeyer, Morgen Kuennen and Abbey Ott — were honored before drubbing their Blue Devil guests, 64-15.More on the story may be found in the Jan. 24 Tribune.
