Slow start; fast finish

Lead Summary

Kerigan Tenge pondered the question on which — a kill or an ace serve — gave her a bigger thrill when it comes to volleyball.
“An ace is right up there, I’m not saying that,” the New Hampton senior said after New Hampton overcame a slow start and buried North Fayette Valley 25-10, 25-4, 25-7 in the opening round of the Class 3A regional volleyball tournament Wednesday. “But there’s just something about a kill, a really good one at least, that gets your adrenaline pumping.”
Tenge had plenty of both against the TigerHawks as she led the Chickasaws with seven kills and nine aces, yet New Hampton had to overcome that slow start to turn this into a rout.
North Fayette Valley jumped off to a 7-2 lead in the opening set, before a Maddi Moorman kill seemed to right the proverbial ship for the 13th-ranked Chickasaws.
