Shirley Ann Pitz age 70 of New Hampton, died Monday, April 24, 2017 at the I.O.O.F. Home in Mason City.A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday, April 28, 2017 at Holy Family Parish in New Hampton with Rev. Brian Dellaert celebrating the Mass. Interment will be held at Calvary Cemetery in New Hampton.Friends may greet the family from 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, April 27, 2017 at Hugeback-Johnson Funeral Home in New Hampton. Visitation continues an hour prior to the Mass on Friday at church.  Online condolences for Shirley's family may be left at hugebackfuneralhome.com  641-394-4334Shirley Ann Pitz was born October 23, 1946 in New Hampton, the daughter of Leo and Cora (Green) Pitz. She attended country school outside of Ionia before grade school at the St. Joseph’s Catholic School. Shirley was a 1965 graduate of New Hampton High School.After high school Shirley worked at the hospital in New Hampton in the laundry room. After several years at the hospital she began working at Klunder’s Kafe. She enjoyed the patrons and camaraderie working at the cafe and continued to work there for 41 years. Later in life Shirley met a special friend, Bill Brown. The two enjoyed each others company and spent a lot of time together.The most important thing to Shirley was her faith. She attended church regularly and often would watch Mass on television multiple times a day. She also loved to read. Her family was very important to her and she loved spending time with them. She had a passion for adult coloring books and spent many hours working on them and sharing with her family and friends.Shirley is survived by one sister, Connie (Jim) Blietz of Council Bluffs; one sister-in-law, Joyce Pitz of Fredrika; many nieces and nephews.She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, LaVerne Pitz, Ronald Pitz, Gerald Pitz; special friend Bill Brown.
