Ray Pitz dies at 78
Ray Pitz, age 78 of Lawler, passed away on Sunday, Dec. 17, 2017 at his home in Lawler with his children by his side.
A Memorial Service will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 21, 2017 at Conway-Markham Funeral Home in New Hampton with Pastor Kevin Frey officiating. Visitation will start at 5 p.m. on Thursday prior to the service. Burial will be held at a later date.
Ray was born on April 16, 1939 to Elmer and Hazel (Frankhauser) Pitz in Chickasaw County. After receiving his education at a country school, Ray worked on the family farm until he was old enough to drive. This was when he began his lifelong career as a truck driver.
On Oct. 10, 1964, Ray was united in marriage to Paulette Howe. The couple settled down in Lawler where they raised their six children; Shelly, Karen, Gary, Teri, Chris and Rusty. While working hard to support his family, he still made time to make special memories in which his family will always cherish. Ray enjoyed fishing and hunting and often shared these hobbies with his family.
Ray is survived by his children; Shelly (Kerry) Glock, Karen Tieskoetter, Gary (Ann) Pitz, Teri (Ty) Blaylock, Chris (Karla Crain) Pitz, and Rusty (Laura) Pitz, and many grandchildren, step-grandchildren and great-grandchildren; As well as his siblings, Dale Pitz, Duane (Pat) Pitz, Patsy (Steve) Cremer, Joyce (Bruce) Hastings, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife Paulette and his parents, Elmer and Hazel.
