Norma Kathleen Adams was born August 12, 1924, in Jackson Junction, Iowa, the daughter of Albert and Glenn (Woodruff) Tomasek. Norma graduated from Waucoma Public High School in 1941. After high school, she worked at Rath Packing in Waterloo for several years.
Even though Norma met the love of her life, Jack Adams, in high school band, she worked and waited until he came home from the war to wed on August 20, 1947. Norma and Jack shared 68 years together.
Norma was a very dedicated and generous homemaker who worked and lived with pride for her dear husband and eleven children, all of whom she was extremely proud of. Norma always had a standing “open door” policy at her home, welcoming anyone and everyone who visited or stopped by and she always had food for everyone.
Norma was a life-long member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Waucoma, IA, where she was baptized, married and now sent to her eternal home. She was a 59 year member of the Catholic Daughters of America at St. Mary’s as well as a long-standing member of the church choir, being one of the strongest alto singers. Norma also was one of the founders of the community Reading Circle Group, where local women would gather regularly to enjoy each other’s company and reading books as well as keeping up on current events. Norma was a 48 year member of the American Legion Auxiliary and was also apart of the Daughters of the American Revolution for over 60 years.
In her free time, she enjoyed 5 a.m. breakfast dates with her husband Jack, that was their time for “just them”, knitting, gardening, cooking, baking pies and chocolate cake and spending time with her family. She will be deeply missed by many.
