Norbert B. Kramer, 92
Norbert B. Kramer age 92 of New Hampton, Iowa formerly of Alta Vista passed away Thursday, May 3, 2018, after a lengthy battle with pancreatic cancer, peacefully at his home in New Hampton surrounded by his family.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday, May 7, 2018, at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Alta Vista, with Rev. Mark Murphy celebrating the Mass.
Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, Alta Vista with Lauren Brannon, Jim Brannon, Jeffrey Engel, JamieEngel, Daniel Brannon and Dennis Ptacek serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Charles and Agatha Onken, Marcia Brannon Howe, Karla and Gary Gossling, Andy and Rosemary Schmitt and Rosalie Pickar.
Friends may greet the family 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. Sunday, May 6, 2018, at Hugeback - Johnson Funeral Home in New Hampton where there will be a 4:00 p.m. Rosary and a 7:00 p.m. Scripture Service. Norbert Bernard Kramer was born March 21, 1926 to Ben and Anna (Daley) Kramer at home in Washington Township, Chickasaw County, where he lived for 90 years. He was baptized and confirmed in the Catholic faith at St. Bernard’s Church in Alta Vista. He attended St. William’s School in Alta Vista thru the 9th grade at which time he was needed at home to help farm.
On April 27, 1963 he married Joyce Brannon at St. Joseph’s church in New Hampton. They just celebrated 55 years of marriage. To this union four daughters and two sons were born.Norbert was a farmer all his life until he retired.
Norb had a dairy herd, raised hogs and crop farmed. He belonged to the Cresco Creamery Coop, the Chickasaw County Farm Bureau and Howard County Equity and was a member of St. Bernard’s Catholic Church. He liked to fish, was a Hawkeye football and basketball fan, enjoyed polka music and dancing, especially Cousin Merle and Molly B, liked to watch James Bond movies and building birdhouses out of barn wood. He especially cherished the time spent with his grandchildren and great-grandson.
Norb is survived by his wife, Joyce Kramer of New Hampton; daughters, Laure (Daryl) Bouska of Lawler, Michelle (Jim) Orthaus of New Hampton and Carol (Dan) Speicher of New Hampton; sons, Dave (Janiece) Kramer of Fredericksburg and John (Amy) Kramer of Alta Vista; grandchildren, Shelby Brooks of Coralville, Jessica Speicher of Highlandville, Bridget Bouska of Des Moines, Lindsey Bouska of Lawler, Christina Speicher, Ethan and Norah Orthaus of New Hampton and Connor and Kolton Kramer of Fredericksburg; great-grandson Noah Brooks of Coralville; special pets, Bonnie and Clyde; sister, Shirley Ptacek of Cresco: sisters and brothers- in-law, Frances Engel, Clinton Brannon and Merle and Delores Brannon, all of New Hampton; many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Susan Brooks; parents, Ben and Anna Kramer: Father-in-law and Mother-in-law, John and Charlene Brannon; sister, Mercedes Hentges; sister and brothers in law, Bob Hentges, Clem Ptacek, Larry Engel, and JoAnne Brannon.
