N-P veterans lead the way

So far, so good for the Nashua girls track team.  But after a solid week — especially with a strong third-place finish at the Osage Coed Invitational last week — Nashua-Plainfield coach Kristi Hannemann wants to see her team take the next step.  “It's time to start working on the finer aspects of the sport — handoffs, hurdle exchanges, and starts,” she said. “These areas are all places where we can easily cut time.”  Still, the early results are encouraging. Yes, the Huskies lost one heck of a track class to graduation last spring, but they also have plenty of veterans back; in fact, 11 current Huskies have state meet experience either as runners or alternates.  And that has produced another relatively deep team, one that piled up 85 points at Osage to finish only behind Class 3A Charles City and Class 2A Osage.  The Huskies showed off some depth at Osage as Kaylee Eick, Emma Sinnwell, Kaylee Cerwinske and Faith Carpenter won the 4x800 and the 4x100, 4x200, 4x400 and distance medley all claimed second-place finishes.  The rest of the story may be found in the April 13 Reporter.
