N-P girls find bright spots in three losses

Persistence finally paid off for Nashua-Plainfield’s Britney Holthaus last week as she pulled herself out of a season-long offensive funk and scored 36 points in a pair of games.  While the Huskies came up short in both games — losing to Mason City Newman 77-37 and Central Springs 75-41 — Holthaus was just one of several bright spots for Nashua-Plainfield.  “In practice, I’m constantly saying you have to believe the next shot is going to go in no matter what and Brit bought into that,” Nashua-Plainfield coach Josh Smith said. “She kept shooting and now her shots are falling and she’s finishing around the rim.”  Holthaus was 8-for-11 from the field in the loss at Newman and then followed that up with a 5-for-8 night against Central Springs and she was a combined 5-for-8 from three-point range in the two games.  More on the story may be found in the Jan. 26 Reporter.
