N-P gets defensive to pull out victory
On a night in which the Nashua-Plainfield defense shone brightly, it was probably fitting that it was the defense that provided the points that gave the Huskies their first win — at least on the field — of the season.
A week after the Huskies picked up their first win of the season when Starmont forfeited, John Krull’s 35-yard interception return late in the game gave Nashua-Plaifnield an 8-0 win over Postville in the season finale for both teams.
“The kids were excited; heck, the coach was excited,” said Nashua-Plainfield coach Nick Lamphier after his team finished the season 2-7 overall and 1-5 in Class A, District 4 play. “We all wanted to get a win on the field, and I hope this shows the kids that hard work does pay off. One thing I’ll say for them is they never quit. They could have given up after Week 4 or Week 5, but they didn’t throw in the towel.”
The star on this night was Krull, who led the Huskies with 57 yards rushing, had a team-high eight tackles and finished the night with three interceptions.
