Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, February 11, 2020, at Peace United Church of Christ in Fredericksburg, IA. Interment will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery in Fredericksburg, IA.
Friends may greet the family an hour prior to the service on Tuesday at the church.
Loren Havens was born on March 4, 1986, to Leslie and Rachel (Gaede) Havens in Iowa City.
He grew up in Fredericksburg with his parents and older sister, Amber, and attended school in Fredericksburg, and as he grew into a teenager, he played football and basketball for a couple of years and developed a love for hunting. He was part of the first graduating class at Sumner-Fredericksburg in 2005, although he was proud that his diploma read Fredericksburg High School.
Loren searched for the right career — first trying the nursing program at Northeast Iowa Community College before moving over to the carpentry program. He got his degree, but later went back to school and received his CDL for over-the-road trucking from Hawkeye Community College. Eventually, he settled in Waukon, where he took a job at Reel Core and later worked at Aveka Nutra Processing.
On Oct. 5, 2006, he married Christina Bond, and the couple had two daughters — Mikael and Eloise. The couple later divorced.
Loren loved spending time with his girls — be it at home or a trip to the playground or park. Mikael and Eloise meant the world to him, and as they grow older, he would want them to know that their father cared for them deeply.
In his spare time, he liked to game on his Xbox, hunt, fish, hang out with his family and friends, and he was always up for a card game, like “500.”
He was a member of the National Rifleman’s Association.
What Loren would want to be remembered most for, though, is that he was a loving father to two very special girls.
Loren is survived by two daughters, Mikael and Eloise Havens of Waukon, IA; parents Leslie and Rachel Havens of Fredericksburg, IA; one sister Amber (Michael) Perkins of Benton, WI; two nephews, Scott and Kyle Perkins; paternal grandmother LaVonne Havens of Cresco, IA; maternal grandmother Lois Gaede of Fredericksburg, IA.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather Arthur C Havens; maternal grandmother Melvin Gaede; two uncles, Dexter and Cedric Gaede.
