Kenneth “Kenny” Joachim, age 89, of Wheeler, Wisc., formerly of Alta Vista, passed away on Sunday, April 30, 2017 at Good Samaritan Society in West Union.Funeral Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, May 4, 2017 at Zion Lutheran Church in Alta Vista, with Reverend Vincent Fricke officiating.  Burial will be in Union Cemetery at Alta Vista. With Kenny’s grandsons James Joachim, Brian Joachim, Trevor Joachim, John Otters, Mark Otters, Joseph Maifeld and Josh White serving as casket bearers.Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday ,May 3, 2017 at Conway-Markham Funeral Home in Elma, and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday.  Online condolences for Kenneth’s family may be left at www.conway-markhamfh.com.  Memorials may be directed to the family.Kenneth Arnold Joachim was born on Sept. 21, 1927 to William and Bertha (Momberg) Joachim on the family farm near Alta Vista.  He attended school in Alta Vista and graduated from Alta Vista High School.  He was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church in Alta Vista where he was a long time member.  After his schooling he worked on the family farm.  Kenny was united in marriage to Viola Schulz on Sept. 7, 1951 at Boyd Lutheran Church near New Hampton.  The couple made their home in Evansdale, where he helped found Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Evansdale.  Viola passed away on Oct. 13, 1987.  Kenny was employed at Rath Packing Plant until it closed.  He then farmed his farm near Alta Vista until 2000.  He was married to Darlene Hintzman on Oct. 6, 2000 in Las Vegas, NV and they made their home in Wheeler, Wisc.  Darlene passed away on February 8, 2017.  Kenny enjoyed music, dancing, playing cards, singing, farming and visiting with family and friends.   Kenny is survived by his children Jo Ann Otters of Fredericksburg, Rick (Teresa Maifeld) Joachim of Cedar Falls, Kevin (Dawn) Joachim of Lodi, Wisc. and Larry (Dawn) Joachim of Greenville, SC; 11 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; brothers-in-law; sisters-in-law; and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents William and Bertha Joachim; wives Viola and Darlene; one sister, Lorraine Swenson; and two brothers, Charles and Orval.
