The countdown clock, if you will, was nearing zero last week for Chickasaw County Treasurer Sue Breitbach, yet in some ways, it was business as usual.

Christmas came a little early for the Nashua City Council on Monday night.
This was a reunion of sorts more than anything Tuesday night in Nashua.
Here’s our belated Christmas gift to you: Winter’s grip on Northeast Iowa is going to loosen later this week.
We’ll give you the good news first.
Put it this way: If you like snow on the ground for Christmas, you’re going to love 2022.
The only question is how much snow will we have.
A deal has been struck, one that will see Waverly-Shell Rock leave the Northeast Iowa Conference a year later than expected.
They went to state dance and put on one heck of a puppet show.
They came home, for a third year in a row, as state champions.
