Huskies head into ‘crunch time’

Crunch time has arrived for the Nashua-Plainfield wrestling team, but the question is this: Will good health do the same?  The Huskies battled through a tough final week of the “regular season” last week as they split a pair of duals at North Butler on Thursday and then returned to Greene on Saturday, minus one of their top wrestlers, and finished 11th in a 12-team field.  “We were so-so last week to be honest with you,” Nashua-Plainfield coach Al Frost said, “and we’ve got to get things figured out because it’s crunch time, go time, whatever you want to call it.”  On Thursday, the Huskies used pins from Brock Dietz and Jakob Whitinger, decisions from Tristen Brase and Nathan Dettmer and four forfeits to beat Clarksville 54-18 before falling to North Butler 39-33. In that meet, Nashua-Plainfield’s Brase, Dylan Downing, Dettmer and Evan Kalainoff recorded pins while Whitinger recorded a decision.  Saturday, though, didn’t go quite as well as the Huskies were without Dietz, who has been battling a severe case of strep for the past two weeks.  The rest of the story may be found in the Jan. 26 Reporter.
