Nosbisch, age 96, of New Hampton, IA, formerly of Ionia, IA, passed away on Saturday, April 14, 2018 at New Hampton Nursing and Rehab in New Hampton, IA.Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, April 21, 2018 at Conway-Markham Funeral Home in New Hampton, IA with Father Brian Dellaert officiating.  Burial will be in St. Boniface Catholic Cemetery at Ionia, IA.Visitation will be 10:00-11:00 AM on Saturday, April 21, 2018 at Conway-Markham Funeral Home in News Hampton, IA.  Online condolences for Germaine’s family may be left at www.conway-markhamfh.com.  Memorials may be directed to the family.Germaine Cecelia Nosbisch was born on August 24, 1921 in Alta Vista, IA, the youngest of five children of Edward and Cecelia (Mishak) Swehla.  Germaine graduated in 1939 from St. William’s High School in Alta Vista.  After graduation, Germaine worked in Charles City, IA as a drug store clerk and housekeeper for the drug store owners.On February 9, 1942, Germaine was joined in matrimony to Raymond P. Nosbisch at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church in Alta Vista.  They started farming and eventually owned a farm east of Ionia where they raised their five children.  She and her husband loved to go to dances for entertainment.Several years after the death of her husband in 1971, Germaine moved to Ionia.  She had started a new career at Sara Lee Foods in New Hampton where she worked on the cake line for 14 years, retiring in 1986. Always one to keep busy, after retirement Germaine started volunteering at the Treasure Chest in New Hampton.  Germaine thoroughly enjoyed gardening and especially tending to her flowers and yard.  She always accepted an invitation to a card game with cousins and in-laws.  In addition, she was handy with crafts and enjoyed sewing.  She traveled with family and friends when the opportunity arose and went as far as Hawaii, Canada, Arizona, and Florida.  She was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church in Ionia as well as the St. Boniface’s Ladies Guild.Germaine leaves her children; Connie (Charles) Rochford of Rochester, MN, Duane (Corinne) Nosbisch of Black River Falls, WI, Dale (Shari) Nosbisch of Ionia, IA, Carol (Lee) Thompson of Cary, NC and Carmen (Shane) Jarvis of Olathe, KS; nine grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.She is preceded in death by her parents Edward and Cecelia Swehla; husband Raymond Nosbisch in April 1971; brothers Jerome, Frank and Charles Swehla; and sister Sedalia Merrick.Her family wishes to thank her doctors, the entire staff at New Hampton Nursing and Rehab and St. Croix Hospice for the wonderful care given to their mother.
