Four area athletes advance to state cross country

Two Turkey Valley runners, one from New Hampton and one from Nashua-Plainfield will be representing the area in both the 1A and 2A cross country meets after finishing in the top 15 in their respective state qualifying meets Thursday.
Jalyssa Blazek won the 17-team 1A meet with a time of 19:49.59, the only runner in the girls meet to finish with a time under 20 minutes. Nashua-Plainfield's Chloe Matthews was 12th and Turkey Valley's Jaycie Byrne was 14th.
In the 2A meet held at Garner, New Hampton's Nolan Usher is making a third straight trip to state after finishing fifth among 105 runners with a time of 17:28.68.
