Donald P. Flick, age 85, of New Hampton, IA,  passed away on Saturday, September 1, 2018 at Patty Elwood Center in Cresco, IA.Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, September 5, 2018 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in North Washington, IA with Father Brian Dellaert and Father David Fleming concelebrating mass.  Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery in North Washington, IA at a later date.  Military Rites by New Hampton American Legion Post #38 and Alta Vista VFW Post #4069.Visitation will be held from 3:00-7:00 PM on Tuesday, September 4, 2018 at Conway-Markham Funeral Home in New Hampton, IA and will continue at the church one hour prior to the service on Wednesday.  There will be a Rosary at 3:30 PM and a Scriptural Wake Service at 7:00 PM on Tuesday, September 4, 2018 at Conway-Markham Funeral Home.  Online condolences for Donald’s family may be left at www.conway-markhamfh.com.  Memorials may be directed to the family.Donald Peter Flick was born on July 27, 1933 to Cletus and Laura (Linkenmeyer) Flick in Elma, IA.  Don attended St. Mary’s Catholic School in North Washington and graduated from St. Mary’s in 1951.  After his graduation he farmed with his family.  He entered the US Army in 1953 and served in Korea.  Don received his honorable discharge in 1955.  Don was united in marriage to Phyllis Hormisch on August 23, 1955 at Immacutlate Conception Catholic Church in North Washington.  After their marriage they farmed near North Washington where they raised their three children. Don was a CCD teacher for many years. Don retired from farming in 1995 when they moved to New Hampton.  He worked for the City of New Hampton at the Park and Rec and cemetery for several years and later for Mick Gage Plumbing and Heating, a job he enjoyed until his body would no longer allow him to do so.  Don also worked as a caretaker for St. Mary’s Cemetery in North Washington and the ASCS office sealing grain bins in Chickasaw County.Don enjoyed farming and going to work at his various jobs.  He was involved on several community boards.  Don was a lifetime member of the VFW and the Catholic Order of Foresters.  Don enjoyed his family and visiting with friends.Don is survived by his children Donna Lou (Craig) Willadsen of New Hampton, Ronald (Roberta) Flick of New Hampton, and Jean Ann (Rich) Hackman of New Hampton; eight grandchildren David (Gretta) Hackman, Shaun (Jeni) Hackman, Jacob (Cassie) Hackman, Matt (Darcy) Hackman, Nicholas (Lindsay) Hackman, Eric (Bryce) Hackman, Todd Willadsen and Kari Willadsen; 16 great-grandchildren; sisters MaryAnn Fleming of Ankeny, IA and Alice “Tudy” (Don) Lockwood of Ponca City, OK; brother Linus “Butch” Flick of New Hampton; sister-in-law Norma Pontenberg of New Hampton; foster daughter Nancy Bruess of Daytona Beach, FL; and several nieces and nephews.Don is preceded in death by his parents Cletus and Laura Flick; his wife Phyllis on February 16, 2006; sister-in-law Madonna Flick; brothers-in-law Robert Fleming and John Pontenberg.
