Diane M. Trewin, 51

Diane M. Trewin, age 51 of Emmetsburg and formerly of New Hampton, passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 27, 2018, after a courageous battle with cancer.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, March 5, 2018, at Holy Family Parish in New Hampton, with Father Brian Dellaert celebrating the mass.  
Burial will be held at St. Mary’s Cemetery in New Hampton.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Saturday, March 3, 2018 at Joyce Funeral Home in Emmetsburg with a 7 p.m. Scriptural Wake Service.  
Visitation will also be held from 3 to 6 p..m. on Sunday, March 4, 2018, at Conway-Markham Funeral Home in New Hampton, with a 6 p.m. Scriptural Wake Service.  Visitation will continue at the church one hour prior to the funeral mass on Monday.

Diane Marie Trewin was born Sept. 28, 1966, to Denis and Rosemary (Troyna) Schwickerath in New Hampton, the middle child of nine.  
Diane spent her childhood years on the family farm in Alta Vista and graduated early from New Hampton High School.  
Upon her graduation, Diane moved to Waterloo and attended Hawkeye Technical College.  
She was united in marriage to Joseph Trewin on Oct. 5, 1985. The couple resided in Clarence.  
Diane finished her college education at Kirkwood Community College with a degree in accounting.  
After several years, Diane and Joe moved to Illinois.  Diane began working as a teller at Ashton State Bank and as a bookkeeper for Stan Lawson.  The couple eventually returned to the Alta Vista area where Diane ran a day care, substituted as a school bus driver for New Hampton Community Schools, laundry care for elderly, snow removal and had a large garden.  
She enjoyed canning the produce she grew.  
Diane and Joe were blessed with four children — Joey, Robby, Marie and Tamra.  Diane returned to being a day-care provider after Robby was born.  
The couple moved to Emmetsburg in 2001. She continued caring for families until April 13, 2013. She then began working for Food Pride and Fareway until her illness wouldn’t allow her to work any longer.  
In July 2013, Diane was diagnosed with stage four rectal cancer, which she fought fiercely and bravely.  
Diane’s love for her family and everyone she met will be deeply missed.  
Those left to cherish her memories are her husband, Joseph Trewin of Emmetsburg; her children; Joey Trewin of Milwaukee, Robby Trewin of Sioux City, and Marie and Tamra Trewin, both of Emmetsburg; her mother, Rosemary Schwickerath of Alta Vista; her siblings, Duane (Karen) Schwickerath of Waverly, Lori (Kevin) Bridges of Plainfield, Larry Schwickerath of Alta Vista, Ronald (Stacy) Schwickerath of Virginia Beach, Va., Neil Schwickerath of Cresco, and Connie (Scott) Schwickerath of Buda, Texas; her mother-in-law, Sharon Trewin of New Hampton; father-in-law, Bob Trewin of Colorado Springs, Colo.; brothers-in-law; sisters-in-law; numerous nieces and nephews; and extended family.
She was preceded in death by her father, Denis Schwickerath in December 2017; her sister, Linda, brother, James.
