Defense keys Trojan boys to big win over Lansing Kee

Even though Turkey Valley had its best shooting percentage of the season, it was the defense Chris Sullivan talked about first after his Trojans brought home a win from Lansing Tuesday.
“Tonight, we played extremely hard on the defensive end for four quarters,” he said after the 65-21 win over the Kee Hawks. “As well as our defense played in the first half it was even better in the second half.”
As good as the defense was, Turkey Valley only led by nine, 24-15 at the half, which the coach said was due to his team’s “inability to finish around the rim.”
“We knew they could shoot from outside and get right back in the game with a few threes. We told the kids we will get their best shot the first couple minutes of the second half but our kids were locked in and went on a huge run to open up the second half.”
Turkey Valley’s point total was 21 in the third quarter and they held the host team to two points, thanks in part to steal and assist totals, both at a season high.
