Cyril “Cy” Blong passed away peacefully on Monday, March 19 at age 93 joining his parents Louis B. and Elizabeth R. Blong and loving wife Margaret Blong, (nee Rice); siblings Arlene, Patricia, Edna, Louis, Cletus and other relatives and friends.
He is survived by his sister Mary Agnes Gebel and brother-in-law Ardwin Reichs, other relatives, nieces and nephews, especially Mary Pat Kopac and family, cousin Raymond Blong (Charlotte), and special lifelong friends Ann Griswold and Carla and Tom Olle and families. Cy was born March 18, 1925 in Lawler, Iowa, and was a 1950 graduate of Loras College. He moved to Milwaukee and worked at Schlitz Brewery, Sealtest/Luick and retired in 1987 from Milwaukee County Department of Social Services.
Cy married Margaret Rice, in 1966 at Christ the King Parish and they resided in Wauwatosa until her death. In 2003 Cy moved to Alexian Village where he enjoyed many years of friendships and helping his neighbors. He will be remembered as a generous, kind gentleman with a distinctive laugh. His love of gardening continued for many years.
Cy was a proud WWII US Navy veteran. He was a member of the Schlitz Legion Post #406 /General Charles King Legion Post # 411 and an active member of the Knights of Columbus.
Mass/Reception will be held on Monday, March 26 beginning at 11:00 at Alexian Village Chapel; private burial will be held.
Memorials may be given to the Alexian Village Employee’s Fund. Cy gratefully appreciated the many years of loving care extended to him by the staff at Alexian Village and by Horizon Hospice during his final days.
