County may get flood help

Lead Summary

Ken Rasing was trying to keep the latest round of flooding in perspective last Friday afternoon. As the Chickasaw County emergency management director talked, he was sitting in the Butler County Emergency Management Office in Allison. Just up the highway from him, the town of Greene was virtually underwater.“It’s terrible,” he said, “and your heart just goes out to all those people. I know at home we’re sick of rain and we’re sick of flooding. It’s bad enough where we live, but we don’t have anything like this.”Still, Rasing knows the latest round of flooding to hit Chickasaw County came with a price tag.He said he was confident that the county would receive a “presidential declaration” for the Aug. 24 flooding and one would follow for the flooding that took place on Thursday.“I was with the governor last week,” Rasing said, “and I do think we’re going to get that presidential declaration for the August and with all the counties in this last one, we’ll get another one down the road for this event.”For the complete story see the 9/27/2016 New Hampton Tribune.
