Christopher Lee Bruns was born May 15, 1991, in New Hampton, IA, the son of Jeff and Lyn (Meissen) Bruns. He attended Turkey Valley Schools and was a 2010 graduate of Turkey Valley High School. When he was a child, he was always known to be full of energy and have a wonderful imagination.
Chris was a part of the Lawler Fire Department, Chickasaw Rescue Squad, Owatonna Fire Department and Mantorville Fire Department. Being a fireman was very important to Chris. He always said his dream was to live at a firehouse and be a full-time fireman. He achieved that goal at the young age of 25 while living in Owatonna and loved every minute of it. Chris also worked at Dave Syverson Trucking and the Kasson-Mantorville Community School District.
You could often catch Chris pulling a practical joke on one of his family members of friends. He was known to have a wonderful sense of humor and was always making people laugh. He also enjoyed cooking and creating different concoctions in the kitchen.
Racing was also a big part of Chris’ life. He met his long-time girlfriend, Alyssa Thevenot, at a race shop through a mutual friend. It continued to be a thing the couple enjoyed together. Chris raced at the Upper Iowa Speedway, Fayette County Speedway, Deer Creek Speedway and the Mississippi Thunder Speedway in Fountain City, WI, just to name a few. He also pitted for a lot of different drivers throughout the years and always enjoyed being around the track.
Chris is survived by his father, Jeff Bruns of Cresco, IA; mother, Lyn (James) Bailey of Lawler, IA; long-time girlfriend, Alyssa Thevenot of Kasson, MN; paternal grandmother, Jan Bruns of Cresco, IA; many aunts, uncles, cousins, and close friends.
