Chickasaws rally for road win
New Hampton boys basketball coach Chad Sweitzer knew his team was in for a challenge Friday night. Not only were the Chickasaws playing a solid Decorah team, they were doing it 24 hours after recording their biggest victory of the season, a heart-stopping 64-60 victory over Charles City. And for a while — a good, long while at that — New Hampton struggled with the challenge; in fact, early in the fourth quarter the Chickasaws were facing a 46-38 deficit. “We talked to the guys at that timeout and said, ‘You can’t be done yet, don’t leave last night’s win out there as a fluke,’” Sweitzer said. “And our boys responded.” More on the win may be found in the Jan. 31 Tribune.
