Chickasaws come on strong for homecoming victory

Lead Summary

Forget the 0-4 beginning to the season, or even the rather pedestrian start to Friday’s game, New Hampton’s football team will be playing for the Class 2A, District 3 lead next week. The Chickasaws, down 7-6 at halftime, played arguably its best half of the season and rolled past Iowa Falls-Alden 28-7 on homecoming to improve to 2-0 in district play.Tristan Sweitzer, who also scored in the first half, ripped off a 29-yard run and a Wyatt Stochl 2-point pass to Mason Cleveland put the Chickasaws ahead 14-7 with 1:30 left in the third quarter.Stochl would hit Lane on a 22-yard scoring pass and Keegan Kane added a 4-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter.New Hampton will play host to Crestwood, which beat Clear Lake 40-27, next week, and the Chickasaws and Cadets are the lone two remaining unbeaten teams in district play.— For more on this story, see the Oct. 2 Tribune
