Barbara Lou Slick, 80, of New Hampton, IA, formerly of Marshalltown, IA, passed away Sunday, August 19, 2018, at her residence. Funeral services were held 10:30 a.m., Thursday, August 23, 2018, at Anderson Funeral Homes in Marshalltown.  Visitation was 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 22, 2018, at the funeral home.  Online condolences may be sent to www.andersonfhs.com.
Barbara was born January 30, 1938, to Fred and Edna (Pierson) Moody.  She attended Marshalltown schools. Barbara was united in marriage to Richard Slick on April 23, 1955, in Fredericksburg, IA.  They had nine children.  In their early years of marriage, Barbara and Richard enjoyed living in the country while Richard worked as a hired hand farming and Barbara had an even heavier workload as a stay-at-home mom.  As a young lady, Barbara worked as a nurse’s aide in Waterloo, IA, and then worked as a nurse’s aide in Fredericksburg while raising children.  She was devoted to her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren.  Barbara enjoyed camping and going on vacations with other family members as well.  She was very close to her sister, Melba Phillips.
Barbara is survived by daughter-in-law Donna (Ricky) Slick of New Hampton, Richard Slick, Jr. of New Hampton, Pam Moritz and Jim Gerner of Garber, IA, Stephanie Nystel of New Hampton, Judy Feltz of New Hampton, Loren (Carmela) Slick of New Hampton, Kelly (Mike) Henning of Sumner, IA, Gerald Slick of New Hampton; 22 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren; three step great grandchildren, three great great grandchildren; four step great great grandchildren, and numerous in laws nieces, and nephews. Barbara is preceded in death by her husband, Richard Slick, Sr.; son Ricky Slick; daughter Gloria Slick; grandchildren Patti Hoeck, Nichole Slick, Travis Slick; her parents, Fred and Edna Moody; brothers Francis and Melvin; sisters Marvel, Clyta, Beula, and Melba.
