A trio of events punched their ticket to the state track meet for the Turkey Valley girls’ track team on Friday evening at Edgewood-Colesburg High School. 

It was a sectional field Turkey Valley coach John Reicks thought his team could have qualified in, had they been able to play with their top two golfers.

It was not exactly the start — bogey, double bogey — Ryan Anderson envisioned Friday at the Class 2A sectional boys golf meet.

Relays were the story of the evening for the Turkey Valley boys’ track team on Friday. The 4x800, distance medley, and 4x400 all performed well enough at the district track meet in Edgewood to qualify for the state competition this week.

Although Charles City 1 took the top spot in a triangular that also featured Nashua-Plainfield, the Turkey Valley trapshooting team possessed the squads who placed second and third. 

Nolan Usher sat on the infield at Garner-Hayfield-Ventura High School Friday night and tried to muster up a smile.
