Waiting pays off for Honor Flight veteran

Lead Summary

Chuck Galligan was seriously beginning to wonder if his dream of participating in an Honor Flight was ever going to be realized. But, soon, very soon, the New Hampton man can cross “Honor Flight” off his proverbial bucket list.“A few years ago, I told ‘em I wanted to go, but I never heard back from them and I figured they had just forgotten about me,” he said, “but out of the blue, they called me and said, ‘Chuck, how’s Sept. 13 work out for you?’ ... I was pretty excited to say the least.”Galligan will fly from Waterloo to Washington, D.C., on Sept. 13, spend the day visiting the sites and then jet home with 90 or so fellow veterans late that night. His older brother, Duane Galligan, took part in an Honor Flight in 2010, and “that kind of got me thinking I’d like to go.”For the complete story see the 09/02/2016 New Hampton Tribune.
