Turkey Valley boys start off 2019 on the right foot

There could not have been a much bigger turnaround between the first and second quarters of Turkey Valley’s 46-23 win over Clayton Ridge Friday.
After a sluggish first quarter ended with a 4-3 Turkey Valley lead, the Trojans outscored the Eagles 18-0 in the second period.
The way his team played in the first quarter reminded coach Chris Sullivan of the first game of the season.
“We were getting the ball deep into the paint but failed to convert multiple times,” he said, “luckily our defense was very active and we did a good job of playing disciplined basketball, closing out shooters and holding them to one shot.”
Even after going into the half with a 22-3 lead, the great defense didn’t let up in the second half.
“We continued to play lockdown defense and our ball movement improved,” the coach said. “It was just a poor shooting night for us but when you play four quarters of tough, intense defense like we did tonight you can get away with playing poorly on the offensive end.”
