Trojans heading to the Dome

Turkey Valley took the drama out of Friday night’s eight-man state playoff quarterfinal game as the Trojans raced out to a 40-0 lead on their way to a 64-14 victory.
The Trojans improved to 11-0 and will play in a semifinal game next at 9 a.m. Thursday at the UNI-Dome against Don Bosco. HLV closed the season at 8-3.
Turkey Valley scored in almost every way — via the pass, via the run and via the defense.
Elliott Dietzenbach and Dylan Elsberned both scored three touchdowns and Ethan Leibold tossed three touchdown passes and reached a milestone with his second one — a 25-yard strike to Kade Kruse in the second quarter. That gave Leibold a combined 100 touchdowns running and passing.
Meanwhile, the Trojan defense was stout, forcing three fumbles, one of which Dietzenbach returned for a touchdown. And the Trojans also had an interception return for a touchdown as Eli Nymeyer raced 46 yards late in the second quarter to push the lead to push the Turkey Valley lead 56-8 at halftime.
Heck, even when things looked like they were going awry, Turkey Valley turned it into gold. On a second quarter two-point conversion, Eli Reicks took a handoff on a sweep, lost the handle on the ball, picked it up and then lateraled to Leibold, who hit Nymeyer in the end zone for the conversion.
