Trojans head back to state

Lead Summary

Heading into the district meet on Thursday, the Turkey Valley cross country team had high hopes for Jalyssa Blazek’s chance to qualify for the state competition. However, when it came to her teammate Jaycie Byrne, there was uncertainty about whether she would be able to be able to join Blazek in Fort Dodge.
By the slightest of margins, Byrne was able to finish in the final qualifying spot - 15th place - to punch her ticket to state.
“My first reaction was just, ‘Wow, I did it,’” Byrne said. “I was proud of myself, and my family was proud of me. I was just happy that I made it.”
