Trojans get key UIC victory
Up until Tuesday, North Fayette Valley was alone atop the Upper Iowa Conference, but Turkey Valley nudged them out of the spot, avenging one of the two conference losses the Trojans have had this season with a 57-48 win over the TigerHawks.
The TigerHawks now have one conference loss — the same as South Winn — with Turkey Valley right behind with two losses.
“Tonight we knew going into the game that we were going to have to play 32 minutes of hard-nosed basketball and be mentally locked in for that time too,” coach Chris Sullivan said. “This was a hard fought win for us tonight and we are proud of the effort the kids put forth.”
Sullivan wasn’t going to fix what wasn’t broken. Ethan Leibold, who has been putting up some pretty big numbers this season, did it again with 30 points and 17 rebounds. North Fayette Valley tried to stop him; the evidence of that was Leibold’s 12-for-16 effort from the free throw line.
