Trojan girls advance to region final
Turkey Valley won the first quarter and East Buchanan took the second, each by a slim margin. But when the third quarter at Jackson Junction rolled to a close, the 21-8 margin the Trojans had over their regional semifinal opponent carried them through to a 44-33 win and sent the TV girls to the regional finals on Wednesday.
Even though it was a fast-paced game, the scoring was slim in the first quarter with the TV girls up 6-4. It didn’t get much more prolific in the second quarter.
“We came out a little slow in the first half,” admitted junior Jalyssa Blazek. “In the second half we put good numbers up and played lockdown defense. When we got some shooters in rhythm they kept shooting.”
Midway through the second quarter Kara Reicks hit a 3-point shot, but that was the end of the scoring by either team for the half and the Trojans trailed 12-11.
