Trojan cross country starts season at EdCo
It usually takes cross country runners quite a few meets to get times back to where they were at the end of the previous season. But Jalyssa Blazek’s time at the Edgewood-Colesburg season opener Tuesday was less than a minute over her personal record, set at the state qualifying meet last year. And Jaycie Byrne’s time wasn’t far behind.
Jesup won the meet on the girls’ side, while South Winn was the top boys’ team.
“Our EdCo meet went well for first meet of the season,” said assistant coach Carla Nymeyer. “All of the runners improved their times from last season’s EdCo meet. This gives us a good starting point and the challenge to strive at seeing how far each can go toward setting new personal records throughout the season.”
