Think some cool thoughts with Christmas in July

Lead Summary

The Old Bradford Pioneer Village Museum will hold its third annual Christmas in July on Saturday and Sunday. The event runs from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days.Earlier this year, volunteers from the museum sent out over a hundred letters inviting craft vendors and flea market vendors to the event.Volunteer Leatha Springer said she has been getting some calls asking about the event from vendors who should have received an invite.“Apparently, some of the invitations didn’t make it to where they were going, so I have been emailing vendors and calling them to make sure they know about Christmas in July,” she said.Christmas in July is a special time at the museum.Local families and businesses come in and decorate all the buildings. Springer said, “Last year Lincoln Savings Bank decorated the school and one of the cottages, the Slessor Family decorated the McCracken building, Anne Fails and myself decorated the depot and the Bottorff family decorated the Smith Cabin. It’s always a lot of fun.” There are a few buildings available if anyone is interested in decorating them.Springer is excited for this Christmas in July because they are adding some new things for the weekend.“We are having a DJ on Sunday. Santa will be here and there will be wine tasting for the adults,” she said and added that pie and ice cream will also be available.Last year they had between 200 to 300 people come out for Christmas in July.Springer would also like to let everyone know the gift shop will be open. The shelves are full of local handmade crafts that would be great Christmas presents.“Christmas is coming,” she said. “Everyone needs to stop out and see just how wonderful this place is.”
